Arthur Pepper’s wife died a year ago and he feels it is now time to move on. His daughter has suggested he should get rid of his wife’s clothes and generally have a clear out. So, armed with some black plastic bags, he starts that sad task. He picks up a pair of boots and inside finds a charm bracelet that he has never seen before. Arthur begins to think he didn’t really know his wife and thus begins a search to find out what each charm must have meant to her and also learn about her life before she met him. This is a lovely book that illustrates how easy it is to make assumptions about people, but also shows that everyone has a good side if you only look for it. It is a real feel good story with a lot of very likeable characters and a moral at the end. I thoroughly recommend this for reading on a cold winter’s night with a mug of hot chocolate!!
