Joe Pickett is a Wyoming Game Warden who works conscientiously in his job and also for those he holds dear.
His family are his life and he will do anything he can to keep them safe.
Unfortunately, an old adversary reappears in his life who is out to make sure that Joe and his family all come to harm in order to repay what he believes are wrongs done to him and his own family.
Dallas Cates, after his release from prison, makes it his aim in life to ensure that he seeks revenge on Joe and all of his family and there begins a cat and mouse game where both protagonists are working to make sure that they succeed.
This is a fast-paced page turner with lots of twists and turns as Joe and Dallas work towards their own goals.
I found it an easy read and, although there is a fair amount of violence, none of it is described in graphic detail so it should appeal to all readers.
I really warmed to Joe Pickett and was urging him on throughout the book to make things right for all his loved ones, who were at times in great danger. The love he felt for his family really came across well and I found him and the storyline very believable.
